Florida for high-volume FBA prep.
The case for Florida sellers actually pay attention to, plus the caveats we routinely have to remind sellers about during matching calls.
Florida is a top-tier FBA seller state, and the reason to prep here is logistics, not tax. Florida has a state sales tax, so the case is proximity to Southeast demand plus Miami's role as the import gateway for goods arriving from Latin America and the Caribbean (PortMiami and Port Everglades). Amazon's Florida FC footprint is dense across Miami / Opa-locka, Tampa and Lakeland, Jacksonville, and Orlando, so inbound from a Florida prep center into Southeast FCs stays on short, cheap lanes.
Sellers who import through South Florida or whose demand is concentrated in the Southeast prep in Florida to shorten both the inbound leg into Amazon and last-mile to customers. For West Coast or national demand, a more central state usually wins.
Where the prep actually sits.
Miami and Doral lead for import and Southeast distribution (our Kaizen and Number One Prep operators sit here). Tampa and Lakeland anchor central Florida near Amazon's large Lakeland operations. Jacksonville covers Northeast Florida with port access and Southeast distribution (our Simply Ship Now operator). Cape Coral and the southwest coast are a smaller, specialist cluster (our Romex returns-reprocessing operator).
What sellers miss.
Florida is not a sales-tax-free state, so weigh the logistics gain against tax exposure with your CPA. Hurricane season (June through November) is a real operational risk for in-state inventory; ask operators how they protect stored goods and whether they carry contingency capacity.

Romex Enterprise
Romex Enterprise is an Amazon FBA prep operation in Cape Coral, FL, that specializes in returns and removal-order reprocessing: it receives a seller unfulfillable inventory and customer returns, runs quality checks, relabels, repackages, bundles, adds inserts and stickers, and ships the sellable units back to Amazon FBA. Operating since 2008 with a Florida warehouse, it runs a published per-unit rate card with a 40 per-ASIN minimum and a non-optional quality-check step. The company also operates a separate Romania and EU cargo-forwarding affiliate; the FBA prep work is handled at the Florida facility. Get started through the FBA Removal Request form.
