Texas for high-volume FBA prep.
The case for Texas sellers actually pay attention to, plus the caveats we routinely have to remind sellers about during matching calls.
Texas is built for central-US distribution. A Dallas-Fort Worth or Houston prep center reaches a large share of the US population within a two-day ground lane, and Amazon's Texas FC footprint is among the largest in the country across the DFW metro, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. Houston is also a major container port for sellers importing through the Gulf.
Texas has no state income tax, which helps operator economics, though sales tax applies. The pitch is national shipping reach and FC proximity rather than a tax exemption, so Texas fits sellers who want one central node serving the whole country.
Where the prep actually sits.
Dallas-Fort Worth is the dominant prep metro, central to the country with a huge FC cluster (our Marketplace Prep operator is in Fort Worth). Houston adds Gulf port import and a large FC presence. San Antonio and Austin round out the major metros. Temple and Tyler (our Brown Box Ninja and Priority Prep operators) sit on the I-35 and I-20 corridors between the metros, typically cheaper per square foot.
What sellers miss.
Texas has sales tax, so the case is central-US reach, not tax savings. Texas's advantage is national distribution; if your demand is concentrated on a single coast, a coastal prep center may beat it on last-mile. Confirm freight lanes from your chosen metro to the FC clusters that serve your demand.
Verified prep centers in Texas
EnZone PrepWorks
EnZone PrepWorks is an Amazon FBA prep center in Conroe, TX, north of Houston, run by Enzone LLC (Texas filing, active since November 2023) with registry-confirmed owners Melissa and Keith Armstrong. The offer is prep for OA, RA, and wholesale sellers on a dated public rate card: FNSKU processing from $1.20 per unit at volume, carton forwarding from $3.50, with inspection, polybagging, and bundling itemized. Budget for the fixed costs: a $35 setup fee and a $47 monthly membership apply on top of per-unit rates. Six real-named reviews on a third-party prep directory average 5.0 across January 2024 to May 2025. Cautions we record honestly: the website footer and the operator's own customer documentation show two different Conroe addresses (a likely move we could not reconcile), and the over-6-years-experience claim belongs to the owners' earlier ventures, not this 2023 entity.
Priority Prep
Priority Prep is an Amazon FBA prep center in Tyler, Texas, running a single-purpose prep operation: FNSKU labeling, polybagging, bundling, bubble wrap, and inspection. Pricing is per-unit and published up front ($0.73 per FNSKU label, $1.03 per polybag including label) with a 20-item minimum and no contracts. The center guarantees a 2 business day turnaround and discounts the order 10 percent if it misses, and reports more than 2.5 million items prepped to date.
Brown Box Ninja
Brown Box Ninja is a Temple, Texas FBA prep center operating since 2014, run by managing member Amanda Sheppard. Per-unit FBA prep runs $0.90 to $1.30 per single unit (tiered by volume, no setup fee and no minimum order), covering inspection, FNSKU labeling, poly bagging, expiration dating, bundling, boxing, and shipping to Amazon, with a stated 1 to 2 business day turnaround. It handles retail and online arbitrage, wholesale, private label, and select hazmat. Beyond FBA prep it also offers merchant fulfillment, carton forwarding, kitting, cross-docking, and pallet storage at $20.00 per pallet per month, so it is a multi-service 3PL with FBA prep as the lead service.
Schellstede Shipping
Schellstede Shipping is an FBA prep operation in Santa Fe, TX, between Houston and Galveston, run by operator Lauren Schellstede since May 2025. The rate card is public and volume-tiered from $1.00 down to $0.70 per unit with a $29.99 one-time onboarding fee and itemized materials pricing. Alongside FBA prep it offers DTC fulfillment, returns processing, and wholesale support, disclosed per our multi-service policy. The operation is young and building its client base, which the site says plainly, and no third-party reviews exist yet; the operator is directly reachable and responsive in our experience.
FBA FlexPrep
FBA FlexPrep is the prep arm of FlexPrep, a Houston, TX operation running since 2016 near the Port of Houston. Per-unit prep leads the offer with published tiers from $1.00/unit down to $0.70/unit at 30,000+ units, all-inclusive with no setup fee and no contract. The same company also runs DTC and B2B fulfillment, co-packing, cross-dock, and warehousing from a 15,000 sq ft single-tenant building, so sellers get prep plus 3PL breadth under one roof (disclosed per our multi-service policy). Receiving runs weekdays 7:30am to 3pm.
Marketplace Prep
Marketplace Prep is an Amazon FBA prep center in Fort Worth, Texas, founded by James McConnell and operating since 2020. It is a multi-service operator that also offers DTC, wholesale, Walmart WFS, and B2B fulfillment, with Amazon FBA prep as its productized core. Volume-tiered per-unit prep runs from $1.50/unit (500 to 1000 units per month) to $0.75/unit (3000+), with nine core services included per tier and an itemized add-on schedule. Third-party reviews are on Trustpilot (4-star across 11 reviews) and Clutch.
