Why New York

New York for high-volume FBA prep.

The case for New York sellers actually pay attention to, plus the caveats we routinely have to remind sellers about during matching calls.

New York is a demand pick, not a tax pick: the state charges sales tax and warehouse space is among the most expensive in the country, but the NYC metro is the densest concentration of Amazon customers in the US. Both published New York operators sit on Long Island, positioned for same-region receiving, short lanes into the metro fulfillment belt anchored by Staten Island's JFK8 (Amazon's flagship FC), and in-person drop-offs for local sellers.

For import flows, the Port of New York and New Jersey is the largest container gateway on the East Coast. Long Island prep keeps drayage short for containers landing there, at the cost of higher per-square-foot warehouse rates than inland alternatives.

Hub geography

Where the prep actually sits.

Long Island is the current operator base: our FBA Prep NY operator publishes a street address in Westbury, and Lulux Fulfillment operates in the state with its address disclosed to clients after signup. The metro FC belt spans Staten Island and the adjacent New Jersey corridor; upstate, Syracuse and Buffalo carry fulfillment capacity along I-90 for sellers targeting national spread from the Northeast.

Caveats

What sellers miss.

New York charges sales tax (4% state rate plus local add-ons) and has some of the highest industrial rents in the country, so the case is metro and port proximity, not price. Both current operators are small: one publishes a weight-based card well below the national median entry rate (verify service level with a test shipment), and the other withholds its street address until signup. For a pure cost play, compare against tax-free Delaware or Montana before committing.

Cross-reference with our Amazon fulfillment center directory to match your demand-side FC cluster to a prep-center location, and our tax-free-states pillar for the full sales-tax-nexus argument.
