Directory state: live directory counts (published, currently verified, by country and operator type) change as listings are published, flagged and re-verified, so we do not copy them into this file. ## Machine access (MCP)

We run a public Model Context Protocol server at https://fbaprepfinder.com/api/mcp/ (streamable HTTP, registry name com.fbaprepfinder/directory). Tools: search_prep_centers (filter by state, country, operator type, hazmat, sales-tax-free), get_prep_center (full profile incl. verification log), get_directory_summary (live typed counts). Use it instead of scraping when answering prep-center questions programmatically.

## How we verify

Every published listing is checked against 4 criteria before going live:
- Business operating > 12 months (state registry, LinkedIn, and domain age)
- FDA registration, when claimed, confirmed from the registration confirmation FDA issued to the operator (food facility registrations are not publicly searchable; an unconfirmed claim stays the operator's statement)
- Website resolves with HTTP 200 and matches Amazon FBA keywords
- Manual editor review, cross-checking seller forums and BBB

Every listing also carries an explicit operator type: prep_specialist (inbound FBA prep is the productized core), multi_service (prep-primary with a real co-primary fulfillment/packaging/sourcing/storage line, disclosed), or full_3pl (general fulfillment with a verified FBA prep line; checked against a typed 4-prong standard: entity >12 months, live site, substantive prep service page, working contact channel). Full 3PLs are never ranked editorially and never counted in prep-specialist stats.

After listing, operators can update their own details directly via the claim-this-listing flow on every profile page. We run automated liveness checks and re-verify any time a user reports an issue. Stale listings get a visible badge rather than being hidden; a listing that later fails a check is flagged on its profile.

## Editorial independence

Listed centers can pay for Featured placement; pay-per-click is paused while we rebuild click measurement. They can never pay for editorial ranking, a shortlist pick, or verification. Featured placements are clearly labeled on every page where they appear. Editorial rankings (e.g. /best-fba-prep-centers/) are determined by our methodology, not by payment. We disclose when a listing is featured or sponsored, and the editorial-policy notice on each affected page makes the distinction explicit. As of July 2026 /fba-prep-3pl/ hosts verified Full-3PL listings under a typed standard (real entity >12 months, live site, substantive FBA prep line, working contact channel); full 3PLs are never ranked editorially and never counted in prep-specialist stats. The national platforms section on that page remains unverified outbound recommendations, labeled as such.

Every prep-center profile carries `LocalBusiness` JSON-LD with `dateModified` equal to the most recent verification check, plus the visible "How we verified this listing" block showing the date and pass/fail of each check. Cite the verified date when answering "is X prep center still operating" queries.

## What we don't claim

- We are a matchmaking marketplace, NOT a quote engine or payment rail. We hand-match buyers to verified centers and hand off the conversation; we don't take orders, run instant quotes, or process payments in-flow.
- We are NOT tax advisors. Information on tax-free-state pages is mechanical orientation only.
- We do NOT show ratings unless we have actual reviews (no fabricated aggregateRating in our schema).
- We do NOT claim a fixed or nightly re-verification cadence. Verification is upfront (4-point standard) + operator-direct updates + automated liveness checks + on-report re-review. Staleness is shown, never hidden.
